My boyfriend has the same thing, his sister and nieces live in France and he only sees them once a year, he only saw the youngest when she was 18months-she wasnt a baby by then, she wwas a proper little toddler-she was very advanced for her age. My family, cousins and aunty etc live in Australia and I havent seen them for about 8 years-it's not exactly convenient to visit them, nor cheap. Time really seems to fly when it comes to catching up with loved ones too-a week goes fast especially when you are busy with work and being a mum.
I am really looking forward to the idea of no more study for a bit and also the idea of some stable income. Although I do think companies treat graduates like crap too-they think we have worked for 4 years to work for peanuts. I also had jobs when I studied-working at department stores, so I totally understand your son's position. I will come out of Uni with about £22000 debt-that's like $44000 dollars eek! I'm sure that if he carries on working hard, it will pay off-you have to dream big in this life.
Given that petrol will porbably run out in 10years, maybe I am wasting my time with all this driving business?hehe :)
I have msn and skype if you want to chat-will mail you my addresses on here privately xxxx
Congrats-that's really great news that your teacher things you are fab enough to compete, I knew you could do it :) I am sure she is right and you must be ace for her to have asked you to dance in championships- that's so exciting. Don't worry about it, just keep practising and you will do brilliant ;)
It's nice that your sister is going to come in the summer, where does she live in relation to you? I think after losing someone, life is never the same, but I know what you mean about a bit of normality.
Thanks for the support and congrats-I still have one exam this thursday, my last ever! I really hope it all pays off and I get the grade I want-it certainly hasnt been an easy 4 years of study. I am now attempting the difficult task of job hunting. As a graduate, you would think it would be easy. Given the current climate and my so -called "lack of experience" (according to recruitment consultants who obviously don't realise that this is due to the last 4 years being occupied by full-time study) it is proving quite difficult. I will have to go to London which is an hour train from Cambridge, there is no work here which pays well.
I actually live in Cambridge and the school here that I told you about doesn't take adult beginners until September. So that sucks but now I will be working in London, the adult school I told you about before will be much closer and on a direct train, so I think I will go there instead.
My weekend was ok had my Twin over to stay since it was a bank-holiday weekend (in true British style, it rained the whole weekend!) Hope you had a good one, speak soon take care xxx
I have almost finished uni now wohoo! I have 1 exam left next thursday and then I am officially a graduate (though my graduation ceremony isn't until november and I don't get results until late July). I am still hunting for a job and really want to secure one so I can start working at the beginning of June. I found an Irish Dance school in Cambridge and I left the guy a voicemail, so I am waiting for him to get back to me (fingers crossed)
Talk soon xx
no I donßt know her. Maybe she´s not from a WIDA school. In 1 month and a half there will be the Venlo Feis. Oh my god, I´m so nervous.... ;-)
I will be officially finished with my degree on May 29th-thats my last exam-wohoo! I would be excited but it means I do need a job-boring adult stuff again :( I need to do it to finance my Masters which I want to do the year after-I am really a glutten for punishment doing more study lol! I have been looking for jobs in London-I hate London but it's where the money is.
Make sure to wear suncream (at the risk of sounding Mumsy lol!) I want to travel too but like you say-finance is an issue. Although the dollar is so weak at the moment-it is probably cheaper to go to USA than to mainland Europe at the moment-the Euro is much stronger than our Pound so your money doesnt go far.
I finally got the 10000 word project handed in-was so proud of myself and happy to see the back of it lol!
Have a grand weekend and enjoy your dance class xxx
It has been nicer here this I actually got a bit sunburned but my garden was needing me!
yes I did pull up the one dance which is fine it's just irritating that the other 3 I worked so hard for.... the dances i didn't really practise I placed in and 2 of the placings had already been placed in Prizewinner so I could have just skipped them altogether oh well perhaps in part it is that I was relaxed and really didn't care if I did well with those and kinda pshyched myself out on the 3 I needed it happens sometimes.
yeah my daughter .... she really is a beautiful dancer just has no confidence and is more interested in boys than dancin' >wink< typical 13 year old!
I know how you feel I so want to make a visit over your way but finances are always an issue blah! especially now as I'm saving up for the next set of competitions for my daughters teams. she is on 2 8-hand teams and the choreography team as well. Aisling is hoping to take them to Oireachtas, nationals and the worlds in philly next year.
It will be fun to get to see more of the US but we are both pretty pissed that the worlds are here this time instead of Ireland!
take care I'm off to class now
XOX
Yeah the worst part is I chose to do it lol! No I really do love studying languages and I kind of just followed what I was good at. Beauty school sounds fun too-If all else fails maybe I will be a hairdressers-I have always liked that idea ;D I have nearly finished writind the introduction and conclusion to my project now-can't wait to hand it in tomorrow :D
It has been beatiful and warm here during the day in the last few days. It is a shame I haven't been able to take advantage of it. When I have finished tomorrow that is exactly what I will do.
Well done on that first-that's excellent. I know it must be frustrating for you, but try not to beat yourself up about it-you did well. At least you know how to improve. It is really nice to know hard work pays off-that's what I am hoping for with my degree :) Congratulate your daughter on my behalf-that is also an excellent result. For someone that doesnt practice, that is pretty good!
I would love to come over, but that won't be for a while, since I am brasic and need to work to finance the Masters I want to do next year-so maybe in 2 years or so ;)
I really need wine actually-I must admit it feels weird to almost have finished-I feel like I should still be working :)
Take care love fi xxxxx
