About me
I have been dancing since the age of 6, competed until the age of 16, highest placing was 4th in the Worlds.. Then toured with Riverdance and now teaching in the Tir na nOg Irish dancing school Germany! I suppose you could say dancing has been and is my life!
What Irish things do I play, dance, say, sing or other:
I have a fiddle, bodhran, tin whistle and Guitar and can just about manage to play one simple tune on each, Its not something for the public though... trust me!

Oh, and sometimes, if you get me with a few beers inside I like to belt out some songs... again, this should be handled with great care, probably best suited to the shower...
Favorite Music
Even though I listen to it everyday I am still a big fan of Traditional Irish music, love the new stuff!

After a long and stressful day of classes, when the last thing I want to hear is a fiddle or an accordian I like to listen to some "normal" music but hate most pop and have a life mission to get rid of all hip hop / rap music in the world... hate it...Anything other than those to Genres are ok by me ;-)

How many years have you been Irish dancing?
18 years (wow... that makes me sound old...)
Favourite Irish dance Show
Riverdance and Dancing thru the ages of course ;-)

On tour with the "High Kings" Part 7!!

September 25, 2008 Hi, Everyone! It has been a little while since my last journal post and a lot has been going on with the High Kings! Last time I wrote, we had only one performance in Columbus, Ohio and then two days off with nothing to do but relax, recharge, and enjoy ourselves. And we did just that! We spent our time off visiting the sights of Columbus and enjoying delicious meals nearby the hotel. And our main task of relaxing truly made us feel so much better when we departed… Continue

On tour with the "High Kings" Part 6!

September 18, 2008 Hey Everyone! Well the last time I wrote to you we had just finished our run in Boston and were on route to Philadelphia. It was the usual scene on the tour bus: people catching up with friends and family over Internet, reading, sleeping or watching DVDs. It was late when we arrived in our hotel just outside Philadelphia, and we all made our sleepy parade to our rooms. The next morning some of the cast had to leave the hotel at 8am to perform in a local TV show. It was ext… Continue

On tour with "The High Kings" Part 4!

September 13th 2008 Hi folks! Well the last time I spoke to you we had just arrived in Wallingford. We didn’t have a whole lot of time for sightseeing but the theatre we played in was pretty spectacular itself. It seated over 4,000 people and was the biggest venue we would play for this tour. We went to the venue at about 3pm and it was into the usual routine of sound checks, lighting checks and last minute fine tuning. At this point, our second show, people were really starting to settle i… Continue

On tour with "The High Kings" part 3

September 11, 2008 Dear Diddlyi, Well, it has been two days since I last wrote to you and a lot has been going happening! We had our opening show in Baltimore two nights ago and what a night it was! Every one's adrenalin was pumping as the curtain went up. As soon as the lads started singing their first song we knew it was going to be a great show. The audience were immediately captivated by the powerful Irish ballads being blasted from the stage by the four amazing singers; Brian Dunphy, Da… Continue

Hi Shane!

I wanted to thank you for making Shannon's night in Houston! She adored your smiling face and dancing feet!! Being in the front row was the best thing...she truly felt like a "Princess to the Kings" and all involved that night!

I enjoyed meeting you in Dallas with Ewan and Andy! What a joy! Your smile is infectious! You are a delight; full of life! Keep smiling, my friend! Keep dancing! Keep teaching! And never lose sight of your dreams!

Hugs,
Timi

Hello Shane... hope The High Kings is going well for you. I was wondering if you have any info about Mary. I just found out that she has not been well. Someone told me she has cancer... is this true? I am so worried about her... plus it is hard to get info (true info). I hope you are able to write back soon. I have messages in to a few other people who know Mary, but I am not sure if they will respond. hope to hear something soon. Take care. Heather

Hi Shane!
your posts and videos are really interesting. Would love to see the show! Friends of mine spontaneously went to see it in Boston. They were so amazed and stunned and absolutely loved it! In a way, they called me after the show (in the middle of the night) to tell me what a great experience it was! (They never saw anyone irish dancing before) They where so taken by your speed and perfection and the spirit of the whole cast - they asked me to write you this.
After this nightly phone call I was so annoyed that I won´t get to see the show, it took me 3 hours to fall asleep again... :)

All the best, and more great touring experiences,
Viola.

Ps.: would u be my diddlyi-friend, please???? ;-)

Hello again, I just wanted to let you know that you should be very proud of your dog niece, Honey Bunny Princess Little Lady Bug McAvinchey, because last night she went to the beer garden with us and she was one cool dog. Aside from getting into a short yet extremely violent fight with her new friend Baloo, she sat quietly and waited for table scraps from random Germans. You would have been a proud uncle.
