About me
I'm no good at creative profiles, so here's the facts:
I am female, 25 years old, been dancing for a few years...forgotten when I started....
I got married a short time ago and am currently working as a Montessori directress in an International preschool.
Other hobbies than dancing:
Songwriting, singing, cooking, reading, re-designing my apartment
Favourites:
colours: purple, magenta
foods: cheese fondue, chocolate ice-cream, Tikka Masala
song at the moment: Geist der Wahrheit
movie at the moment: Cheesy Christian movie: Facing the giants
tv show: Friends, The Black Adder, My family, Drop the dead donkey, Fawlty towers, The vicar of Dibley......I just love comedy!!!
place in the world: Snowdonia, Wales
Christian books: The Bible by God Almighty, Family driven faith by Voddie Baucham, The great divorce by C.S. Lewis
other books: The fifth elephant, memoires of a geisha,
Dance books: Conditioning for dance by Eric Franklin
Author: C.S. Lewis, Terry Pratchett
dance: I like almost all dances when my teacher makes up the steps ...it's just getting the initial ecstatic happiness and the joy of the actual drill-the-steps-till-u-get-em experience together that makes it hard to determine my favourite dance. So...pass.
animal: Elephants.. and dogs except ones that look like they need a face-lift.
dance shoe: Fays heavies.
number: 1. It is a very cool number, you cannot argue with that.
beverage: San Francisco's Iced Chilled Creme Caramel Machiato
Their Chai tea latte is also very good.
alcoholic beverage: Amaretto (hot) with cream or Bailey's OTR
Newest project: Sandpapering and painting the cupboard in my< hallway, growing plants for my balcony to look nice and inviting, planning my holiday to Rome with my husband.
What Irish things do I play, dance, say, sing or other:
I dance...apart from that I was a miserable failure on the flute so I do not think you want to go and hear me play haunting Irish melodies because haunting may take on a whole new meaning for you.
I am desperately ignorant of all things Irish and my only excuse is ...actually I cannot come up with it right now...hmmmmm.... I know how to count to three in Irish. I am very proud of this achievement.
Music/Singing School/Group
I do sing in the worship team at Munich International church. That's great fun.
Music/Singing Level
Good enough for God cause he has not struck me with lightning yet.
How many years have you been playing/singing?
I believe since I could talk, I started songwriting around that time too, usually I would sit in the car with my Dad and drive him nuts with 5 hour renditions of songs about the cows out there and oh look what a big lorry and so on.
Favorite Music
To me what matters mainly is the lyrics, or a good rhythm that makes me want to dance ( provided the lyrics do not offend me.)
I really really hate the music and lyrics by that guy...um..Snoop Dog!
Urgh. Makes me sick.
I love classical though I never know the composers.
I cannot say I like Metal of any kind. Though I am not saying some of the music is not "good" in the sense of creativity but it just...does not speak to me.
At the moment I like "Dios de Pactos" and "Zeichen der Zeit" a lot. Also like Alison Krauss. And Irish music, though accordeons are not my thing.
I like Old Rock'n Roll too...just cause it is fun. I love Spanish music.
And some 80's stuff is fun to dance to. I love great singers like Whitney Houston. Just don't listen to her a whole lot any more, but the singing is great.
Dancing School / Group
Tir Na Nog and don't ask me how to spell that
Dancing Level
Somewhere along the lines of Intermediate, but not in competition I do not really get the whole levels thing, I just dance and have fun with it. I love improving but I don't give a toss what place or level I get. I think I know myself whether I am progressing well.
How many years have you been Irish dancing?
Actually that is hard to determine what with poor fake teaching and a large break for about a year in between... I think I learnt my Easy Reel April 2004.
Favourite Irish dance Show
Cannot say, there are good and bad things about each show.
I like Riverdance, but I prefer shows that are pure Irish dance, then I like Lord of the dance but the costumes and occasionally strange or even uncreative dance moves bother me. Then again, it has Bernadette Flynn to offer, she makes up for a lot.
I like what I have seen of Stephen Scariff's stuff....forgotten the show name, but very "different". I like different. Celtic Tiger however is different in the other way. It makes me feel physically ill to watch an aging Michael Flatley strut around the stage flirting with a stripper who dances an excuse of a hornpipe before embarking upon a pretty sad stripper act.
Nope, I think with that kind of money, you can do better stuff.

I really wish Bernadette Flynn would join a different show, but I guess there is no chance....
I love this about Irish Dancing:
Watching good dancers fly makes me feel tingly inside. Like sitting on a mountainside in the middle of the night staring up at the stars, when you feel like falling upwards, and you just go "Woah!". Or when you have a dream at night that you sprouted wings and can actually fly, that swooping feeling in your stomach. That freedom and power and energy...ach, I cannot describe it.I love watching dancers soar. Maybe that is what I like about teaching and passing on tricks and exercises, the result of seeing dancers move with greater ease and power and freedom.
I love this about Irish Tradition:
The Irish are all stubborn by tradition. The good thing is when they are stubborn about the right stuff, they make awesome followers of Christ.
