About me: I'm 24, have danced since I was about 11 and grew up surrounded by Irish music (my mum plays flute). I reached open level in the UK and competed twice at the Worlds - Belfast 06 and Glasgow 07. I am currently "retired" from dancing - read that as don't compete at the moment but there's always that temptation!

I used to make Irish dancing costumes as my full time job, though I've been on sabbatical for several months. I do intend to perhaps do a few ready mades in the coming months when time allows it tho.

Other than irish stuff... I work for a travel company, I rock climb, and I make jewellery. If time and money ever allow it I'd also like to learn to snowboard, dive and I'd love to travel the world some more.

What Irish things do I play, dance, say, sing or other:: Irish dancing, occasionallygo to music sesiuns and play tin whistle

Favorite Music: Lunasa, certain Sharon Shannon, Altan. In terms of dancing music - Dean Crouch.

Taking a 6x waist, dropping the inseam to fit a size 8 and lengthing it to fit a 10 was not a good start for a first pair of trousers.

At 12:15am on August 11, 2008, Jessica said…: Just about 4 years, I don't make a lot, only when they outgrow one or for majors, Sad thing is when I am finished making one I rarely have the camera ready, or if there is a show to do, I usually run it so I don't have alot of pictures of the kids! I did manage to make my son his pant, vest, and tie for Nationals. Whew, I'll never do that ensemble again. I told him the vest, yes, pants never in my lifetime!!

Funny thing is when we were in Atlanta a couple of years ago, I was in a fabric store and my friend kept calling my name and some other ID parents were there & following me around & thought I was you. I had to burst their bubble & tell them no, I don't make dresses for anyone other than my own kids. Your own children can live with my mistakes!!

I'm actually doing the same as you. Just finishing op on a soft skirt performance dress and have my competition solo in the works as well. Clients are calling me back to the sewing table beginning of september. I have 3 customs and perhaps more waiting between now and november. Perhaps I will need to make some class dresses as well and new outfits for our performance group.
jeeez, I'm breaking out a sweat just talking about it! :-D
