What happened to the Mainland Europe Ceilí teams?

Last year at the Oireactas in Vienna, there were still 5 senior ceilí teams competing from mainland Europe. Ever since, we´ve been the only team at Mainland Europe feiseanna :-(
What happened to the ceilí teams? Why don´t you compete anymore? Will there be any competition in 2008?

Hi!
I was in the ceili team from Sarah Clark academy last year. We didn't dance at the Oireachtas 2 months ago because 1 of the girls was pregnant and has just have her baby!!
This year, we have some new girls and I think (and hope...) that next year we'll be on stage!!
Anyway, well done for the oireachtas and good luck for the worlds (are you going??)

Hi Lydie,
sorry for the late answer.
No, we´re not going to the world´s :-((( The reason is that the adjudicators didn´t let us. They said we did not yet have enough experience at big championships and feiseanna. That was hard but by now, we´re over it :-)
So how about you? Will you be at Salzburg feis and will you have a ceili team there?

Hi I am sorry to hear that your group cannnot enter the Feis and I cannot see what it has to do with any adjudicator, they are there to judge teams on their Merit not whether they are good enough to enter ,We must encoourage teams not put them off.We must have a lot more support for CEILI DANCING ,IT SHOULD ALSO BE UP TO ADJUDICATORS AND THESE TEACHERS TO PROMOTE AND TEACH CEILI AS IS LAID DOWN IN THEIR TEACHERS EXAMINATION.Yours Anton I do hoope others will join in this Nonsense

Hi Anton, thanks for your feedback! You are totally right. Ceili dancing should get more attention!
It was after having won the Mainland Europe Championships (ok, that was clear knowing that we were the only team competing...) that we were told that we could not go to the World Championships... For the reasons mentioned here above. It was a very bad experience indeed. As you probably can imagine, it did not really help to improve our motivation!!!

Hi Again Siona,I am sorry to hear that you werre put off by this stupidity. We should always encourage people to dance and they should be encouraging you and trying to get others involved in Ceili Dancing it is great to see people enjoying themselves it is also a great form of relaxation after competing in solo dancing where some are feeling uptight with the old nerves.Anyway dont despair keep on going and enjoy your selves,Yours Anton

Unfortunately, our teams could not go as we went through restyling period which is thankfully almost over :) All of the dancers can't wait to compete again :)

Hi Natasha,So nice to see such a large group of young people enjoying themselves, also it is great to see the number of Males involved they are usually hard to get involved, but then again it may be all those pretty young ladies, you all look so happy together in your group.Good luck for the future and keep the Ceili Dancing going,it is a shame we have not got the likes of you in london, but we will keep trying.Yours Anton

Hi it is so good to see such young people taking an interest in CEILI DANCING and shooud be encouraged by all schools TEACHERS That is part of why they became teachers,it is in their manifest that they must teach and encourage Ceili Dancing.By the way Costumes should not be at all necessary to enter or dance CEILI,I agree it looks good but is not esential plus the expense involved,Which only profits one small rich Group of People.Anton Ps you can be as good without
