Everytime you see any kind of "Irish-wannabe" dancing, you find yourself cringing because of their knees, their placement, their posture, their arms...

Gosh I've seen so many of those wannabe's. Loads of ballroom dancingschools suddenly knew how to dance the Irish way. Promoting with slogans like "learn to dance like Michael Flatley!" etc.
One went to one of these classes (actually to see if I could improve my overall dancingskills) and walked out after 15 minutes just to never return. I got commented on my crossed feet ("you need to keep your knees apart"), my high leaps ("there's no need to jump that high") and... how I didn't use my arms!!! ("put some swing into those arms")
I truly wondered if that woman had even watched one of the shows on dvd or video cause although they use their arms more then the traditional dancers you can still see they don't 'swing about'...

But well, who am I right?! :P

I know EXACTLY how you feel..although i didnt join in one of those classes.. but the tap studio who dance next door to us... attempted to some thing the they thought resembles Irish Dance!!!!
Im telling you , I wanted to kill them! They were just making a fool of Irish!!

wow, i dont blame you what so ever, walking out. Me and my sister borrowed a michael fatley (hehehe not very nice but a family joke) dvd from the library, and we watched for about hmmm no more then 20 min. its horrible how someone has so much talent and displays it so badly with all the arms and arrogance.

and about the arms! The history of your arms stiffly beside your body, was cuz way back then the english made it illegal to irish dance....so they straighten their arms so it looks like they are jumping when looking at the window

i bet when others "irish dance" it proabably looks like when we tried irish dancing when we where 5. omg :( sad sad irish wannabes :(
