How do you feel about the wigs?

I'm an "old school" dancer (age 24) and I personally think the wigs look ridiculous and unnatural. If you were being judged completely on your steps and not at all on your appearance, would you still wear a wig?

We,that's my daughter and I,don't like wigs. And it's true, we spend hours rolling the spikes in (in front of a dance-dvd ) .It took me ages to hunt the shops down for enough spikes. But it was all worth it in the end and she looks really pretty with her natural hair in curls.
If your 13 year old dancer doesn't want to wear a wig,try getting her wear one ...:-P
Comments of her dance friends at the feis:"Oh,your curls look great ! They look like a WIG !"
Whats the standard?Hair compared to wigs or wigs compared to hair?

Why even bother curling your hair!
Au natural!!! far better
I think everything has gone too focused on how you look

wigs itch, after a while. don't put em on too tight or they give you a headache. i would know, from personal experience.

I've never worn a 'traditional' irish dance wig. I think most of the time they look ridiculous and unnatural (no offense).
Because I don't have a nice big bunch of hair I bought a very cheap ponytail wig in the colour of my hair. it gives my hair something extra but it looks as if I just put my own hair into a ponytail.
I've had numerous positive comments on it such as: "wow, your hair looks great!", "if I had your hair I wouldn't wear a wig" etc
But I've also got on stage (at both feiseanna and performances) not wearing it. Some comment that was made to me when I did that made me feel extremely good about my cheap "wig". This woman came upto me and said:"it's a real shame you've cut your lovely hair!!!"

I feel that if a wig looks natural it can be real nice and it can give someone a real confidence boost but if it's fake I personally feel it's just a waist of your money

Hi
I love wearing a wig and tiara
It makes me feel specail because I sometimes have to put my wig on on the aeroplane which is fun. I think if we are going to get dressed up we might aswell go all the way.
I don't like the straight wigs as I think there is no point to them but you can get nice ones now which have natural looking curls. Also when my friends from school talk to me about Irish Dancing the thing thay ask the most questions about are the wig and the fake tan.(as I often come into school with orange legs!!! he he he)
I think that if you were just being judged on your steps then we would just wear shorts and a t-shirt but that is obviously not what is happening and I don't really mind.
