Diddlyi Irish Dance and Music

The frustration of not being able to dance!!!

Hi everyone,

Wow! Its been a while since I wrote a journal post but I suppose its better late than never! Things have been busy as usual over the past few weeks but now, alas, I have been forced to take some time off and I am going mad!

Reason being that I had to have this operation on my toes on both feet. Kind of complicated to explain but basically the bones were messed up and the joints needed to be straightened out... All very fun stuff! Anyway, it means that I have to stay off my feet as much as possible for at least two weeks then were these big weird shoes for six weeks and be on crutches for about 2-3 weeks too... should be about 4 months until I can dance again but I am sure I will be able to get back into teaching next week and be more verbal than physical ;-) Its frustrating but I think injuries are all part of being a dancer and on the bright side, At least I can spend more time on Diddlyi! Whoo!!!!

So, thats whats going on with me right now.... Off now to watch some more DVDs from the comfort of my couch! Happy Diddlyi-ing!

Shane

Thanks everyone!!!

(Especially the Polish Mums ;-)!!

I managed to get to the Intermediate / Opens class today and yesterday... I sat in the corner and shouted at them... Was a lot of fun! Sort of like playing soccer on a computer game, you dont lose any energy but you can still play the game...

Think I am going to be a little more evil as a teacher while I cant dance mwaa ha ha ha!!! It was nice to get out of the house for a while though... I am now back to my couch with my throbbing feet elevated.. back to the DVDs, nearly through the first series of "24" its great stuff!!

Hope you get well sooner than expected :). I hated it when I had to stop dancing for a month last year, but it really gave mo more time for reading, wathing films and all :).

This is getting scary: I've heard so many dancers getting injured lately, esp. their feet and ankles! My teacher Catherine broke/chipped her ankle, Dominike from my school broke his big toe, a girl here on Diddlyi broke her hip, Shanes toes, a girl Caroline is making a dress for etc.....maybe I should stay in bed 'till this is over.

Hey Shane
I saw you with your crutches at the worlds!!
My mom (Elisabeth Frank-Grossebner, Rafter School Vienna Teacher) and I went past you and we were wondering what you've done with your feet!
Hope you'll feel better in Salzburg.. or Munich.

See you then,
Dotty
