Something For Everyone In Guinness' 250th Birthday Celebrations

We all know the Guinness brand is synonymous with Ireland. And its storehouse in Dublin is the most popular tourist attraction on the entire island. So I think it's safe to say that Guinness is the business in Ireland.

This year Guinness will celebrate its 250th birthday and the occasion will be commemorated all over the world. In fact, the bash has already begun!

So, what does Guinness have on tap for us? (Sorry, I can't resist a pun!) Dublin based events are taking place at the storehouse now, free of charge and open to all.

June 1, 2009 – August 30, 2009:

Mondays, 11:00 am
GUINNESS & FOOD DEMO with Head Chef Justin O’Connor
You'll discover all about Guinness infused food (think stew, pies and baked goods) and you'll even be able to pick up a cookbook full of Guinness inspired recipes. Delicious!

Tuesdays, 11:00am
TOP 10 GOLDEN MOMENTS OF GUINNESS HISTORY with GUINNESS Company Archivist
The history of Guinness will be discussed and important company founding documents will be displayed.

Wednesdays, 11:00 am
GUINNESS Variant Tasting & Perfect Pint Tuition
I think the title says it all: Learn (and taste) the different brews of Guinness and learn how to pull a pint. (I can speak from experience when I say you really do need someone to teach you how pour properly!)

Thursdays, 11:00 am
80 Years of GUINNESS Advertising – Special Guided Tour
Take a trip through Guinness' memorable advertising campaigns and I'm sure you'll see a tucan or fifty!

Fridays, 11:00 am
GUINNESS 250 – Special Guided Tour
This one's for all you super fans and history buffs: A in depth history tour at the Guinness storehouse.

Saturdays, 1:00 pm
Céilí Mór
There can't be a celebration without Irish dance, right?

Sundays, 1:00 pm
Traditional Irish Music Session
And the celebration wouldn't be complete without some good old Irish tunes.

♣ The last thing you don't want to miss is a chance to have a pint with Arthur Guinness' great, great, great, great, great grandson, Rory Guinness. On June 19th, July 17th, and August 28th, Rory will be at the storehouse's 4th floor bar for pints. (You must be 18 years of age to participate in this event.)

All of these fun events will lead us up to September 24th, 2009 which has officially been dubbed "Arthur's Day" in honor of Arthur Guinness, the man behind it all. The 24th will be celebrated not only in Dublin but also in New York, Lagos, Yaoundé, and Kuala Lumpur with music, entertainment and much, much more. And at 17:59 (Dublin time), glasses all over the world will toast Arthur Guinness. Nice touch!
