Citrine is a 12 member
Celtic ladies choir based in Salt Lake City, Utah. The choir, led by the
Julliard educated musician
Anne-Marie Hildebrandt [she sings as well as plays the piano and Celtic harp], will be
releasing its first CD entitled "
Aglow" this Friday. "Aglow" is full of
original Celtic inspired tunes in addition to a few classics like "Scarborough Fair."
What I found interesting about Citrine is that Hildebrandt isn't technically the lead singer with the choir backing her. She
arranged all the music allowing herself as the lead singer/pianist/harpist to perform as a duet with the rest of the choir. Each of Citrine's performances are a bit different as well. None of Hildebrandt's arrangements are set in stone, so
the choir and Hildebrandt have to react to each and are as a result constantly creating new versions of their music.
