Abigail Kruse Sing Goodbye

This is a tribute to my great-grandmother, whose funeral (the setting of this poem) was last week. I hope it doesn't take too prideful of a tone towards my own singing. This poem is also posted on my page at allpoetry.com.

When friends ask me if I got a chance to say goodbye
I smile and nod, though that's not exactly true.
I sat long hours by your side
while Dad, behind the curtain, cried
and was most content

Victoria Force Lansing/Windsor Feis Reveiw

Last weekend, I went to the Great Lakes feis and the Rose City feis, in Lansing, MI ans Windsor, Canada. It was my 3rd year going to both feises, so I thought that I would do a reveiw:

Windsor: It was held in the St. Denis Fieldhouse on the south campus of the University of Windsor. The last two years, it was held in a high school, and this venue was MUCH BETTER than the other one. One of the downsides was that on one of the stages, ther was a 1.5 hour lunch break, so it was a

Annika (Sally) Things are tough, right now...

More than 3 month after my accident and my surgery am still not able to dance again. I can hardly bend my knee more than 90 degrees and its still very painfull. My physiotherapist isn't very happy about that. I go to the gym every day to train my muscle again and it gets stronger. But my knee isn't flexible. I try to bend my knee evers day but it doesn't work.
That's not fair!!! I finally won my primary dances and was so motivated. And now?!? I am not sure if I will start dancing again.

Abigail Kruse Get Reel!

Here it is: the project whose namesake is the name of my blog at www.treblereeler.blogspot.com. "Get Reel!" is a new television series based on real-life experiences of the dancers of Clanahan Academy, a CRN Irish dance school in suburban southwest Ohio. It's meant to have the feel of shows like Glee.
I'll add episodes as I write them, and this is merely a character description. These are the major characters, all

Zebadiah Beauregard A Couple Three Irish Dance Limericks

There was a young dancer named Bridget
Who developed a case of Feis fidgets
A friend who was glancing
Taught her Irish hand dancing
So she now does a two-hand with digits

There was a Feis Mom from Nantucket
With a magical well-stocked Feis bucket
Said she, “At a Feis,
I’m never distressed
If I lose something I just buy another one from the vendors!"

There was a young dancer I’m told
Whose legs were exceedingly cold
“It’s my

Zebadiah Beauregard Hope for the Craic Impaired

Dear ZandB

My husband and I have been invited to a pub crawl later this month and frankly I’m distraught. You see, my husband isn’t of Irish descent and doesn’t understand the whole “craic” thing and lacks even basic social skills when it comes to pub banter. He takes everything so seriously and has a difficult time letting go and having fun. Normally in a situation like this I would lie to him about having to visit a sick friend and show up without him, but this time some bozo left

Miriam Thoughts On Costumes And Whatnot

I am one of those dancers that knows we have very little chance of getting a dress in the near future. My parents think of Irish dancing as an over-expensive hobby that isn't worth the money and time it needs to keep it going, and there are some things which make me inclined to agree with them--notably, the costumes.

Don't get me wrong. Some of them are lovely, and I would adore to wear one of those. I

Lia The apple is BAD! Stage Fire 2010...

I know, I know, I've been very bad lately in terms of keeping everyone informed about what was happening in Krakow, but honestly the last few days were so intense that I had time for nothing else but trying to get some food and sleep :)

So we had our performance on July 31st and it was fantastic! It was amazing to see how things that were not working really well during the run-throughs and rehearsals miraculously came together for the performance. It must have been all that adrenalin an… Continue

Zebadiah Beauregard Some "Sound" Advice

Quite a while back someone requested some tips and hints on improving their performance at an upcoming Feis. A couple of “craic heads” (myself included) joyously achieved an unrehearsed cosmic cybernetic harmony providng the following “sound advice" on improving the "musicality" (we use the term loosely) of their dancing.

Herewith follows our advice:

Most adjudicators prefer a specific style: So dance accordionly

Attack the stage! Don’t fiddle around.
