Why Being Irish Rocks!
-It might be a teeny tiny island, but coming up to Paddy's Day it's important to remember why being from the good old Emerald Isle is pretty darn cool.
- We're not into extremes with this climate. While drizzly grey days all year around might be boring, at least we're not battling third degree burns one week and snowstorms the next.
-Hollywood just loves us! From Colin Farrell and Cillian Murphy to Saoirse Ronan and Jonathan Rhys Meyers and don't forget oscar winner Glen Hansard - it seems it's very hip to be Irish in Tinseltown.
-We're multilingual. Not only can we kick it with the other English s[eaking countries of the western world, but we also have the Gaeilge to use as the code abroad - nach bhfuil sé go maith?
' Barrys Tea,
' Tayto Crisps
' Ballymaloe relish and Superquinn sausages... all 100% Irish (and delish).
-Our boy bands rock! Boyzone and Westlife could give Take That a run for their money any day.
-We Haven't got any snakes. Thanks, St. Patrick!
-From Cu Chulainn to the Salcom of Knowledge, we have the most amazing history and ancestry, going back hundreds of years. It's nice to know where you came from, right?
-Famously patriotic, we'll don an oversized green hat and a whole bunch of shamrocks at the mere mention of Paddy's Day. And isn't it amazing when your "Kiss me, I'm Irish" T-shirt works?
-We've produced such homegrown bands such as, The Blizzards, The Script, The Coronas, Republic of Loose and U2, to name but a few. We've aslso totally got the pop factor covered with Nadine Coyle, Eoghan Quigg and Shayne Ward. And how could we forget our music mogul Louis Walsh?
-Our culture is totally widespread - never heard of "Amercian" dancing, have ya? From bodhrans to leprechauns, our traditions are known all over the world.
-Red hair. Sure, the Scots might have it too, but we're famous for flowing auburn loacks and a face full of freckles.
