Diddlyi Irish Dance and Music

Where in your house do you usually practice? I need advice, because I don't have a very good place to practice. I usually practice in my bedroom, but I'm not allowed to use my hard shoes on the floor, and there isn't much space in there, so I keep on accidently kicking the window sill. And my family always complains about how much noise I make.

Hahaha that's my situation too lool I practise with dance sneakers in my bedroom or in the corridor (no more than 2 squared meters xDDD). When I'm doing softshoe I usually move around what I can. Sometimes I practise in the garden where I have much more space... but here is too warm to do it now and, of couse, without dancing shoes... I don't want them broken!

anywhere and everywhere for soft shoe, and outside on a piece of plywood for hard shoe. You can also practice outside for soft shoe in socks, no shoes or sneakers. I just use old socks so i don't hurt my feet or ruin good socks.

I live in a studenthouse, so I have 20m2 ti fit everything in... But I did leave a space where I can at least practise some soft shoes, but I absolutely can't practise my hard shoes anywhere at home (only with my sneakers on, or something not making a lot of sounds). But usually I practise about everywhere: in the kitchen while prepairing my meals, at work when no one sees me, while waiting for the bus or train...

Hi,
I also know this problem. I don't have much space as well, so I try to use the small space in my room to do some technique exercises.
But a few month ago I started to go to gym instead of doing irish dance I'm doing step aerobic and cardio to improve my whole fitness and stamina. For me it works out pretty good, but if you really want to improve your dancing you may can rent a cheap practise room or try to find more dance specific lessons to support you outside dance classes (like ballett or modern dance).

definitely a large piece of plywood or similar wood is ideal and can be stored upright. having lived with a practicing dancer for several years, i can recommend the following: 1st- early on a sunday morning, place wood underneath a bedroom window, turn the music up high and dance==guarantees a cooked breakfast to stop you. 2nd- while eating breakfast, constantly practice on floor beneath table, preferably still wearing hard shoes==guarantees meal on your own in peace and probably extra sausages. 3rd-at the least sign of being asked to do something, assume the upright pose, point your toes (maybe in soft shoes this time), hum and hop, skip and jump out of the room==escape.these simple practice routines will result in your parents/guardians buying lottery tickets in the hope that a big win will guarantee a private studio. or they will be praying that riverdance or another show will decide they cannot do without your talent==everybody's happy!
