i find usually girls are pretty nice. I always ask which way they go, as to avoid collisions, they are never fun. I do admit though that sometimes you have to be fierce, and own the stage, but bumping into girls and limiting their movement is NOT stage presence no matter how you do it. Its just plain rude.

I don't try to push and shove, but I will not change my steps if someone gets in my way. Of course, I'm not just gonna dance right into them, but I won't change how my teacher told me to do my steps so I won't hit them.

The only time I've ever hit someone while I was dancing was when the other girl was trying to hit me. I just kept on with my steps. These people are trying to make you mess up your steps and change your steps. don't.

some girls beleave that to get the judges attention that they should push their way to the front no matter wat! i was at a feis where a girl did this to me in two dances and admitted to doing it deliberately cuz her mum had told her to!! needless to say she got nowhere when the results where called and i beleave its because the Judge was wise to her. Judges r not stupid and i think that when they see this type of behavour going on they mark you down!! so come on girls the floor is big enough and you are not blind, give each other a break after all we are all in this together and if you are going to win then let it be for your DANCING not CHEATING!!!!!

Now that I think about it, I think I've seen this kind of behaviour more in teenagers than the little ones or the adults. But I also have to disagree with the title of this discussion, it's not just girls, I've seen boys do it too.

I totally agree. I always end up in the same comp. with this one girt who has stolen my school's steps and always, always tries to push you, or dance in front of you. And she does it all the time. Its sad that people seem to think that they need to do things like that to win. Last time I checked judges awarded places for talent and showmanship, not how much you block out the other dancer! Although most of the girls that I dance with are so sweet!

Some people just get obsessed with it. But judges do eventually notice. I agree, it should be fun. Of course you want to win, but not by cheating. I do the same thing, Fien, and ask. Better safe than sorry.

I was dancing my reel once, and this guy bumped me. I didn't look at him; I just kept dancing. Then the lights went out! I just kept dancing. I medaled; he didn't.
