Diddlyi Irish Dance and Music

Hello there guys and gals! I am writing a Masters thesis on Irish Dance costume and was wondering if you could contribute by answering the following questions: What does your dance costume mean to you? How important is it to your dancing? Please join the discussion - thanks!

For me a costume is part of your performance, because when you're on the stage you're presenting-except dancing of course-your personality, and outfit can tell a lot about you.
It's not the most important thing, because you have to dance, not to look perfect ;),but when you look pretty, when you're sure that your dress is perfect you can concentrate at your dance.

It also depends of occasion of performance- when you're dancing on feis you have to look perfect and glamorous, because judges watching!;) when you're dancing on other stage, not in competitions you can do something crazy, you can show some body ;) and wear something interesting for spectators.

That's all I can say now ;)

I really like my dress, but mainly because it represents that I've been dancing for a while and long enough to deserve a solo dress. I also feel like the dress expresses some of your personality to the judge and even though it shouldn't be overpowering it should be expressive because of this.
