Our 5 Favorite Irish Dance Flash Mobs

Nina is an adult Irish dancer based in Belgrade, Serbia. For more, connect with her on twitter @GingerLujka.

Did you know that flash mobs are a fairly new thing? I was surprised to learn that the first ever flash mob happened in 2003 and it was nothing other than a social experiment designed by a witty American Bill Wasik.

Nowadays flash mobs are a very common thing and extremely popular especially among dancers. They are very amusing, fun to do and will make a great story to tell your grandchildren someday.

Irish dance flash mobs even more so. Whether you choose to do a traditional set dance, a ceilí or one of your school’s choreographies, people are guaranteed to notice, because, well, Irish dance is not easily ignored.

I chose 5 of my favorite Irish dance flash mobs to share with you. If you are in any one of them – let us know!

1. Take the Floor 2013 at the Dublin Airport

2. St. Patrick’s Day 2013 by Shamrock Dance Company at a train station in Vienna, Austria

3. Christmas flash mob by Teelin school at the Annapolis Mall to “Gangnam Style”

4. St.Patrick’s Day 2011 by Sneaky Steppers at Central Station, Sydney, Australia
