We are delighted to announce that your new Dance Master on Diddlyi is Nicola Byrne!
Nicola Byrne is an accomplished performer and choreographer and has danced her way around the world from competitive stages to taking on the lead role in Riverdance. Of late Nicola has become a sought after choreographer having worked with productions such as Riverdance, RTE’s celebrity Jigs & Reels and most recently as a star choreographer for Take The Floor. Nicolas’s unique blend of style, elegance and grace will be prevalent during her Workshop series on Diddlyi.com as she brings dancers through a series of modern and original Dance steps while staying true to the roots of Irish dance tradition.
So obviously we are thrilled to have her Workshop feature on Diddlyi and we are sure you are going to love it. You’ll see the first of her Workshop lessons appear early next month.
Here are some Nicola facts:
Nicola Byrne started her dancing career as a very young child with the renowned O’Shea School in Dublin, Ireland. She went on to have a very successful competitive career including earning 4th place at the World Championships.
Nicola Joined Riverdance in 1999 and performed the female lead role from 2006-2009.
In 2008 Nicola was asked to choreograph an original group dance number for Riverdance, making her the only cast member since Michael Flatley and Colin Dunne to choreograph an original piece for the hit show!
Nicola was a choreographer and dancer on RTE’s Celebrity Jig’s n’ Reels in 2006 & 2007 and won the 1st series with her partner Killian O’ Sullivan.
At the first ever Eurovision Dance Contest in 2007, Nicola came 3rd with her partner Mick Donegan as they proudly represented Ireland.
Nicola was chosen to perform during President Mary McAleese’s state visit to Hungary in 2008. She was lead dancer and dance captain in the Irish Dance show ‘Irish Thunder’, in Busch Gardens Virginia and Florida, from 2001- 2004.
Nicola, as well as being a qualified Irish Dance teacher holds an honours Bachelors degree in Design & Visual Communication from The National College of Art and Design in Dublin.
She is currently combining her passion for dance and design by creating an exciting new line of customized dancewear called Malley Sport Dance for dance schools worldwide.
